An accurate Property Records System is essential for a well functioning economy. Such well maintained land records system will reduce the scope of legal disputes over property ownership. The Revenue Department-Government of Karnataka (GoK), as per the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, is responsible for preparing, maintaining and preserving spatial and non spatial data relating to ownership of urban properties in the state. In exercise of the powers conferred by section 22(1) of the Registration Act 1908, Read with Rule 15(iii) of the Karnataka Registration Rules 1965, the Government of Karnataka hereby notifies that, the non testamentary documents relating to immoveable properties, falling under the jurisdiction of Mysore city and Shimoga city, where city survey is complete, shall not accepted for registration, unless the immoveable properties are described with their respective city survey numbers, as shown in the Property card perpared under Urban Property Ownership Record programme and issued by the Department of Survey Settlement and Land Records.
This notification shall come into force with effect from 1 May 2014. More....
